Orthoceras

(Orthocére in French) is an extinct genus of cephalopod mollusks. Orthoceras lived during the Paleozoic era, from the Ordovician about 470 Ma (million years ago) until the end of the Permian when they disappeared during the great Permian-Triassic extinction about 252 Ma ago.
